Here is your preview of our season with predictions for 2011:

(Teams listed in predicted order of divisional finish with record)

North A

1- Woodbridge Shannon Rose (10-2) – this team seemed loaded at the beginning of last year, slept walked through the latter part of the season and then turned up the juice in the playoffs, nearly winning it all.  They are definitely the team to beat in this division.   (Odds to win it all 3-1)

2- Linden  (5-7) – someone has to finish second here and this team has been in and out of contention in recent years for a playoff berth.  Could be a sleeper team.(Odds to win it all 20-1)

3- Union (4-8) – not sure what to expect of our Northern most squad.  But if they are able they may just cherry pick from neighboring U2 for some more manpower and could surprise.  (Odds to win it all 25-1)

4- Woodbridge (1-11) – if I’m not mistaken this is one of the few teams never to enjoy a winning record in our league.  Don’t count on this being the year they break that trend.  (Odds to win it all 200-1)

North B

1-Manalapan (9-3) – this sounds like a very dangerous team based on what I’ve been hearing and the last time Manalapan failed to make the playoffs they won the whole thing the next season.  They are a serious contender to win the whole thing.  (Odds to win it all 5-2)

2- Milltown (8-4) – may not have the guns to keep up with Manalapan this season.  Since their early years in the league, they have become a perennial playoff contender and look to reach that goal again in 2011. (Odds to win it all 7-1)

3- Piscataway (4-8) – seems like those P-way glory days were a lifetime ago right about now doesn’t it.  Coming off an 0-12 campaign, things can only get better, right? Maybe the influx of Edison talent will help, then again…. (Odds to win it all 50-1)

4- Bridgewater (2-10) – Finally, after years of unanswered emails to these guys, they’ve decided to join the league.  First timers usually take a year to get up to speed.  Not expecting too many victories. (Odds to win it all 80-1)

South C

1- Howell (8-4) – I’m gonna go out on a limb here and say Howell rebounds from a mediocre 6-6 team last season.  Too much pride there and a couple of breaks go their way and a division championship is not out of the question. (Odds to win it all 5-1)

2- Tinton Falls (7-5) – last years squad won several very close games and ended up with an 11-1 record only to get exposed in the playoffs in round 1.  This team has gotten much more serious in recent years and last season’s ending will only make them hungrier. (Odds to win it all 5-1)

3- Middletown (7-5) – This store has never had on sub .500 season and it’s never smart to count them out of it.  This looks to be the toughest division again and I could see them going anywhere between 9-3 or 3-9.  (Odds to win it all 10-1)

4- Wall (4-8) – Okay so here we have the only multiple championship team in ASL history predicted to be in the basement of South C.  Why?  They’re due.  I’m not sure if they will be as organized as last season and don’t think they have enough to make a playoff run.  (Odds to win it all 18-1)

South D

1- Manchester (9-3) – The defending league champion may have a tough go of it as they’ve lost their shortstop. However, they still return a ton of talent and the talk is that their girls have improved as well.  Will they strive to be the first to repeat or just ease through the season?  (Odds to win it all 4-1)

2- Brick (8-4) – This team came out of nowhere last season and really impressed all season long.  They also lose a big bat in the lineup but have enough to potentially take it all.  (Odds to win it all 5-1)

3- Lacey (6-6) – Lacey hasn’t cracked 4 wins in a season in it’s history despite promising starts.  If they can flip the close games this year they should be able to do that but playing  down South means no easy games.  (Odds to win it all 25-1)

4- Toms River (2-10) – The South’s “easy win” over the past several years looks to turn back the clock to 7 or 8 years ago when they were actually competitive.  They look to be more organized this year but expecting more than a couple of victories may be asking too much.  (Odds to win it all 100-1)
