ASL Rules
for the 2011 season :
·
Teams must have a
lineup at the beginning or each game
·
A minimum of three
girls must be in the lineup at all times
·
If the minimum of
girls is playing, any substitutions must stay in the same batting order spot
·
There are no
limitations on substitutions: For
instance a player IS permitted to re-enter a game at a later time in the same
spot in the lineup or anywhere if the batting order has been completed since
they left. Also, pinch runners are
allowed by a player not currently in the lineup, not by a player in the lineup.
·
Teams must be
comprised of Applebees’ employees. If an
employee leaves or transfers during the season, they are still allowed to
play. A transfer can play for one team
or the other not both. The transferred
employee must make a decision after one week which team they will play for and
cannot go back. Also, after the eighth
week of the season nobody can transfer teams regardless of the situation. If an
employee’s home store does not have a team they may play for another store.
·
No leading off,
stealing, or bunting
·
Home teams are
responsible for having a field and bases. Bases should not be flat as they are
difficult to see and set up in “softball dimensions”, not baseball ones
·
Our official league
ball is the “blue dot” each team should have at least two
·
Directions should
be sent to the visiting team with a cell phone number (in case someone gets
lost) by the Friday before Monday’s game
·
Designated team
captains will discuss and make decisions regarding close calls. Use your best judgment and flip a coin if you
absolutely can’t agree
·
Both team
captains must agree to end a game early due to weather or darkness in advance
·
The pitcher must
be somewhere in the circle around the mound
·
The infield fly
rule IS in effect. In other words, if
there is a pop up and the ball is dropped you cannot double up the runner
needing to advance
·
It is strongly
recommended that in the name of sportsmanship that a batter not take a
ridiculous amount of pitches to stall the game or in search of “their perfect
pitch”
·
Our league IS
slow pitch meaning the delivery should be underhand and the ball should have
some arc to it. The ball should not be
coming in level
·
Rain dates will
be made up as needed (not within the first three weeks), the week following the
final regularly scheduled game, otherwise teams will proceed directly to the
playoffs
·
Playoffs will
include the top eight teams in all, with #1 hosting #8 and #2 hosting #7 and so
on, the winners will continue to advance to the
finals, with games being at the higher seeded team. Each division winner will host a home game
and be seeded 1-4.
·
Tiebreakers: 1-Head to head record, 2-Runs given up,
3-Margin of victory
·
If a store
receives an AOA on a game day, then they are excused from the game and it will
be made up as soon as both teams are able to come up with a date
·
If a team
forfeits the winning team will have their stats amended to their average
“victory” margin at the end of the season.
The losing team will take a 20-0 loss in the standings.
·
Teams need to get
scores (and any highlights they may want to share) to Ray by Monday night after
the game
·
Each team must
produce a “Rosnet labor report” before the game with id’s in order to ensure
that each player for their team is legit. This report should be done recently
not 2009!
·
A team will be
allowed to play one “ringer” if they should choose but will forfeit a spot in
the batting order and field. In other
words they can only play nine at all times and must still have “3” girls in
their lineup.
